Parental Leave
All full-time U.S. employees (30 or more hours/week or 75% work schedule for attorneys) are immediately benefit-eligible for the Paid Parental Leave (PPL) benefit. We recommend that you visit Workday and go to the Leave of Absence worklet to visit the LeaveLogic Absence Planning Tool.
You must notify your Manager and Unum of your need for leave as soon as practicable and, if possible, at least 30 days in advance.

Birth Related Medical
Parental Leave (Birth Parent)
You are eligible for up to 14 weeks PPL (including holidays) to use in relation to the birth of a child. Your leave will be integrated with any Federal and State Paid Family Leave, if applicable. Generally, PPL starts on the date of birth and time can be taken in a block (5 or more consecutive days) or intermittently. However, birth parents may elect to use the Paid Parental Leave benefit as soon as deemed necessary. A few examples are:
- Prenatal appointments
- Intermittent pregnancy-related issues, such as morning sickness
- Transitioning your work prior to the birth and transitioning back to work
- Postnatal doctor appointments or child sick day
Birth-bonding/Childcare/Adoption leaves must be taken by the 1st anniversary of the birth or adoption of the child. Unused leave time is forfeited.
With the approval of your manager, you may extend your parental leave time by using PTO, TOP or unpaid time.
Time off taken as Parental (or Medical) Leave will be counted under the Federal (and District of Columbia, if applicable) Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) as well as any applicable state leave entitlements.
