Personal Leave

At its discretion, the firm may grant a personal leave when compelling reasons exist to do so and without causing undue hardship to the firm. You may be eligible for up to sixty (60) consecutive calendar days of leave at the firm’s discretion, beginning on your date of hire. Paul Hastings policy requires prior approval; all approvals will be in 30-day increments. This leave will not run concurrently with leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or any state leave laws, if you are eligible for FMLA/state leave. You must notify your Manager and Unum of your need for leave as soon as practicable and, if possible, at least 30 days in advance.

Non-Exempt Employees: You must use any accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) (if applicable) while on personal leave.

Exempt Employees: personal leave is unpaid.
